If you have not previously received these forms the links to the Donation Drive PDF's are below. Please review the information sheet and submit your donations by May 10th. Mary Margaret O’Donnell has volunteered to help with the Masquerade Concert decorations and has a cache that she will lend us. Thanks, Mary Margaret!
Please let me know if you can chair or help at the Masquerade concert, and if you have some decorations you can lend for the occasion. We also will need help with the program and afterglow. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] Tracey McCullough has agreed to manage the Spirit Wear.
Thanks, Tracey! UPDATE: Kelly McDermott has agreed to be the Webmaster, and Belinda Barnes is the new Library Chairperson.
Thank you Kelly and Belinda! Dave Fischer Seaholm Orchestra Booster President Seaholm Orchestra Parents,
The Boosters meeting was productive, albeit sparsely attended, with four people besides Nick, Lora and me. Please find below the minutes of the meeting. Minutes--Seaholm Orchestra Boosters Meeting of September 26, 2018 In attendance: Nick Karpinsky, David and Lora Fischer, Anneke Tellier, Donald Finkbeiner, Lulu Danan-Titran, Mary Margaret O'Donnell Nick Kaprinsky introduced himself with a brief description of his experience; other attendees also introduced themselves. Treasurer's Report: $3160.67 in the Boosters checking account, $2667.40 in the BEF Orchestra account. Officers: We need a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, webmaster, committee chairs for each concert and the banquet, uniform chair, sprit wear chair, Orchestra Camp chair and music librarian. Booster Meeting Schedule: We agreed to hold meetings every other month. Masquerade Concert, 30OC2018: This should be a festive concert. We need lots of help. First, a chairperson. Those with Halloween decorations they would be willing to lend would be appreciated. Nick wants to have a lot of community outreach. It was suggested to enlist the Social Committee of Seaholm. We would like to put up flyers in local places to increase attendance. Nick suggested a costume contest for younger children, with small prizes and/or candy at the door. Fundraising alternatives: It was agreed that parents are tired of having students sell things. Suggestions included solicitation of donations with recognition in the concert programs, seat reservations. We will explore the possibility of linking to the BEF website to make tax deductible donations, as well as the possibility of including coupons and/or ads from local businesses, and selling ad space for participants. We also talked about Boosters dues. Please see Tuxes and Dresses below. Winter Concert, 19DE2018: Similar needs as the Masquerade Concert. We need a Concert Chair, and lots of help with decorations, logistics and the afterglow. Spring Concert, 08MY2018: Similar needs as the Winter Concert. Nick will check to see if we can have popcorn to go along with the movie theme. Spring Trip: Considering a trip to Disneyland from April 26-29. Nick is meeting with Kyle Hall and developing itinerary proposals with two travel agents. Room Renovations and Decorations: The Orchestra room is due to be painted over winter break. The students suggested university flags to make things brighter. Do you have any you would like to lend? Electronic Ensemble: Nick mentioned starting this up soon. There is an old electronic drum set which needs to be evaluated. Music Library: There is a shortage of appropriate file space and the music is not organized by category or any other way. We need a chair to organize the activities in the library. Spirit Wear: I have attached the proposed logo to a previous message. We discussed using preorders and Custom Ink or Zazzle to produce spirit wear. Tuxes and Dresses: Nick stressed his desire to have a professional looking as well as sounding ensemble. He would like to have each student have a tux or long black dress as appropriate. Nick agreed to look into any existing inventory. From his past experience, he indicated this would cost about $100 per dress, and $120 per tux. We also talked about renting vs. buying, and a uninform fee. Orchestra Camp for next year: Nick described plans for Orchestra Camp next year, including fun activities, like a flag football game or capture the flag, rehearsals with experts and a session-end concert. If you would like to volunteer for any of the roles described above, please let me know! The Masquerade Concert is fast approaching and we need to start organizing activities quickly. Yours in music, Dave Fischer Seaholm Orchestra Boosters President We will be holding our first Boosters Meeting on September 26, 2018, time TBD. We have a lot of exciting things to discuss. I'll be sending out an agenda in the next couple days.
